In this project at Shenkar College, I explored the contrast between seduction and surrender, and how they can be conveyed through two faces. One side represents naivete and innocence, while the other embodies seduction and flirtation. I delved into how these opposing qualities are expressed and where the fine line between them lies. What causes a woman to feel seductive one moment and helpless and submissive the next?
I was mainly inspired by Israeli artist Pamela Levy, who used a figurative-realistic style based on her own photos. Her art dealt with political issues like the First Lebanon War, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and multiculturalism and gender. Levy often painted girls and women at the pool or beach, and didn't shy away from nudity, rape scenes, or soldier corpses. Her paintings were often like collages, perhaps influenced by her early works.
